Have you ever seen Fidget this grumpy? Could it have anything to do with the fact that the attention – just for once – is not all on him?

Prawns in Char Siu sauce

With the festive season approaching, friends and guests have been dropping in on the cartoon kitchen. This week, all the way from Hong Kong, we have Panda visiting. So what can our heroes cook to make him feel at home and welcome?

Inspired by the Lee Kum Kee recipe book, Trota decided on this easy yet delicious appetizer. You will need 400g prawns (de-veined, washed and patted dry), 2tbsp vegetable oil and, for the sauce mix, 1tbsp LKK Premium Oyster Sauce, 1tbsp LKK Char Siu Sauce, 1tsp LKK Chiu Chow Chilli Oil, 1tsp sugar, a clove of garlic (sliced). To serve, some green salad leaves – roquette is ideal.

Fry the prawns quickly in a wok with 1tbsp oil – they’re cooked as soon as they turn pink. Set them aside and, in the same wok, heat the rest of the oil and the garlic; add the sauce mix, bring to a simmer and return the prawns to the wok; mix well to coat with the sauce. Serve with salad leaves.

So easy to make and so delicious!

Fidget loved it – he’s even stopped complaining about having to do the table service…
