Chocolate and hazelnut marble loaf

The easiest marble loaf ever, Fidget can make it with his eyes closed! Not that he can as easily escape Trota’s inquisitive gaze when he is baking, though…

Chocolate and hazelnut marble loaf

Fidget came across this fool-proof recipe in a magazine while waiting for Fifi at the grooming parlour.

Start by warming the oven: 160°/gas 3. You are going to need 150g butter (softened), 150g caster sugar, 150g self-raising flour, 3 medium eggs (beaten), 3 tbsp milk.

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Then put half the mixture into another bowl. For one of the bowls beat in 2 tbsp of cocoa powder and 4 tbsp of Nutella.

Line a loaf tin with baking paper and place alternate spoonfuls from each bowl. Then, with a skewer, swirl through to give it a marble-like effect. Sprinkle generously with chopped hazelnuts. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 1–1¼ hours, until a skewer inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean.
